Nutrition is a central part of health and wellness. Effective patient care includes expertly planned and prepared meals. At MCHD, we pride ourselves on providing wholesome and well-balanced meals for our patients. We also run a full-service cafeteria for the benefit of visitors. Nutritional Services at MCHD

Our nutrition department coordinates all aspects of patients’ nutrition, providing attractive nutritious meals that are balanced and healthy. We also strive to ensure that our menus are varied, providing choice and flavor. We work to accommodate all dietary requirements, including vegetarian, heart-healthy, sodium-restricted, diabetic, gluten-free and renal.

Upon admission to the hospital, patients’ needs are assessed by a licensed dietician, identifying special requests and dietary preferences, while also taking doctors’ orders into consideration. Our interdisciplinary health care team, work closely with patients to provide comprehensive nutritional care that will promote recovery. Our dieticians provide a thorough education for any nutrition prescription.

Meals for patients’ guests are also available on request. Guests can always enjoy a meal at our cafeteria – Scrubs & Grub.

Patient Meals

Wholesome, nourishing and well-balanced meals are an important part of your treatment and recovery.

Patient meals are served at the following times:
Breakfast – 7:30am (ordered the previous day)
Lunch – 12:00pm – Patients are allowed to order anything as long as it is diet appropriate.
Dinner – 5:30pm – Patients are allowed to order anything as long as it is diet appropriate. Order by 4:00pm.

A patient menu will be provided daily and the patient can dial 3231 to speak to a Patient Ambassador about their meal or place an order.



Stop by for a meal or a snack at the hospital cafeteria – Scrubs & Grub – located on the first floor of the hospital west of the lobby. Scrubs & Grub is open to the public and serves hot, nutritious meals for breakfast and lunch.

Scrubs & Grubs hours Monday through Friday are 7:00 am – 1:30 pm.

Breakfast – 7:00 am – 9:00 am

Lunch – 11:30 am – 1:30 pm

Snack – 3:00 pm – 3:30 pm – cash only
